Inspirational Digipak

From those digipak, I knew what I should put on our digipak to make it looks more professional. I
This image gave me a idea of the effect I could use in the production of digipak. Because this effect looks gothic, it also could made me relate it to cosmic which link back to the name of our album, so that I think it will suit our album and represent  florence's style.

Digipak Draft

This is a draft digipak design draw by hand.

By the research of Florence's and other singer's digipak, I
 was inspired.

As most of the real product, a image of the singer on the font of the digipak is a must. Therefore, a mirror effect image of Bronte is designed as the cover, because it showed the singer and also it is creative so that it can attract people. Also the name of the singer and the album are design on the front.

For the back of the digipak, certain labels and words(copy right, record company etc.) are on the bottom of the back. The song list is positioned on the top of the back and it is listed from left to right. A image of candles is used as the background image to create the atmosphere of gothic.

For the inside of the digipak, we are going to use a pack of images of the cosmic that it can link to the name of the album.

Final Music Video

This is the second final video for our music sequence of Florence and the Machine - Cosmic love, the narrative is of a couple on there wedding day, the female persona is tired of being stuck in an small framed space. eventually she's had enough of being a painting and decides to break free leaving her husband confused at her sudden departure. She finds herself in the museum where she explores vicariously as if she was human, passing against the houses she finds some candles and begins to light the dark world which is the realistic look on life when she escaped from her optimistic lifestyle.
We changed some of the ratio on the clips in the frame sequence, dance sequence and during the reverse sequence. This is because the changing ratio was quite noticeable and so we decided to adjust the distort and adjusted the ration to -12.5 to every clip so that they all match. Some of the dance clips we lowered so that they wouldn't jump out. We also decided to leave the 'step out' movement as it is, simply because it's a lot smoother than previously. I also added more of the boat clips in as well as transitions in between this sequence and the sequence of the painting. I took some of the candle overlays off during the end of the video simply because it looked better and finally I added more jump cuts during the walking scene so when it jumped, it would hit the beat of the drums in the song.

Photoshoot (Abbie)

This image appears as if it could be placed behind the disc, because of its composition the image can be used on a cover in the Digipak.

I thought that this image could be manipulated into Bronte blowing stardust or a cosmos from her hands.
The way that Thomas is posed and off center gives a artistic view for the space around him which we could use to draw attention to the backdrop and we could use this image of Thomas in the advert.

This would make for an excellent advert as this image can be cropped and made into a advertisement as it has the impression that it is a Victorian/Edwardian feel to the image.

In this photox it is of both me and Bronte and we are meant to be happily married, the blank background means that this is as the painting is not yet finished and we are still happy with our not yet 'complete' life, which goes with the theme of the music video. Bronte posing in this image shows she is mischievous as if she is still in her optimistic life style. These photos show our development into our project.

Font Choice of The logo

For the record label, we wanted to try a few fonts before sticking to one for the record label. We wanted to follow the Florence route and so we choose three texts before narrowing it down to one. The group decided to use text one, which is the font Edwardian script for out record company called TAGS.

Logo Creation (Abbie & Serena)

Logo (TAGS)

I viewed the mask and text that had been hand drawn by Serena, the mask is suppose to represent two sides of a personality, the good and the evil. Serena got this inspiration by researching masquerade masks on a website which is specifically made for selling these kind of masks.

Next I zoomed in using the navigation tool on iphoto, to get a better picture of mask which I will enlarge in photoshop before making a colour scheme that the group agrees on and painting in the colours onto the mask. I think the colour scheme will be bright colours seeing as we're trying to portrait a good vs evil theme in our record

label.

This is a close up of our record label TAGS font, we wanted it to be similar to edwardian script so Serena tried to recreate that in her own design, it's a good drawing and the fact that the title and picture of the record label is hand drawn makes the record label task a lot more creative which is what we want to pursue through out the planning process.

This is the colour scheme we want to go for to paint in our mask, we want the black to make the mask stand out, and the red and gold will be used for the 'good girl, bad girl' effect.

This is the finish record label, the reason we went against our original plan of colour scheme was because of the difficulties that had occurred in Photoshop trying to create that effect, so after speaking with the team we decided to do a gradient effect of black and purple, as well as going over the detailed area with black and setting it to soft light to give it more of a stand out effect and we were satisfied with the mask as our record label.

Disk Design

To link the digipak and the disk together, the disk is designed that I am going to use the same image as the image we used inside of the digipak.

First, I found a blank disk on line, save it down and opened in Photoshop, rub off these extra words on the image.

Created a new layer which is the image we used inside the digipak.   I decreased the fill so the shape of the disk could be seen. By using the Eraser Tool, I rub the shape of the disk out. Change the fill back to the original.
Add the name of our band on. The font I used is the same as the digipak and the advert. By the research of the disk of indie rock band's disk, I decided the name is in the middle up of the disk so when people open the digipak, they will see the name straightway.
Created a new layer with the name of the album, the font is the same as the one on the digipak.
By watching the tutorial of 'How to circular the words', the copy right, DVD logo and the name of our company are in circular position. These are designed because it could tidy the disk up that we want a concise style disk, and also it looks more creative.

Final disk design.

Storyboard (Serena & Thomas)

Storyboard

The original storyboard did not follow the full shot schedule, so some of the shots were missing, which was not enough for me to create the animatic of our music video. To solve this problem, at the beginning, I used all the shots from the original storyboard, edited those shots in Final Cut. Than I compared that with the shot schedule so I know which parts were missing, I re-drawed the missing part. This time, I labelled the time, shot type and the action on every shot on the right-up corner of the image that could help me put those new shots in the right place.
