Digipak Front

Florence + the machine's Album 

Orignal Photo Shoot

I chose this photo shoot as the image on the front of our digipak. On Florence's digipaks, she usually not face to people, most of her poses are looking to a side with a  touch of expression. On the photo shoot I chose, Bronte has a mail smile, that is simler to florence's star image. The front of Florence's album 'LUNGS', her is looking at right,  she has no expression on her face, but the pink flowers add a peaceful atmosphere to the picture, which in our photo shoot, Bronte's smile could do the same job. By discussed with group members, the photo shoot is chose as the final photo shoot for the front of our digipak.

First of all, I followed the tutorial on Youtube, smooth Bronte's skin for a better star image.

Then, also I found the tutorial on web that teach how to cut the image out. Before design our digipak, I know nothing about photoshop, I have learned a lots photoshop skills during this production.

I cut it and pasted it on a black back ground . To realet the image with the back of the digipak, I used some candles, pasted those around Bronte what make her looks like sitting in the candles. This also could relate to our music video, in that we used candles as a props.

I think square image is too simple to be the front cover image, I want it outstanding when people see it, so I changed the shape of the image to a arch shape. Also, I add some different sizes and lightness circular lights in by using the brushes. The reason I added those is I think it could represent a peaceful moon to the album and those also looks like stars which could related to cosmic. To make a arch shape image, at first, I cut the photo to a half by using shape tools and pasted it on a new layer.

Scened, I used shape tools again, cut it as a ellipse shape image and pasted on a new layer.

Then, I combined those two layers, so this is what it looks like.

Add the name of the acties on, 'Florence + the Machine'. By the research of Florence's albums, I found that on all of her album's cover, her name will be on the top and the font she used were her special font. So the font I used was the one I found on line which was the most similar one as Florence's.

Added the name of our album. I didn't used the name of orignal album, I replaced the name of our music video 'Cosmic Love'. The font I used was 'Brush Seript M7'.

By the discussion in the group, we changed the font of the name of the album, because the font we used was too much for the song list(as Florence, we are using the same font on both the name of the album and the song list.)

Final Project

At the end, I added a white frame on which could highlight the image and it also followed florence's style.

On the side of the digipak, I created a bar which contain the name of our actress 'Florence + the machine', the name of the album 'Cosmic Love' and the number code of our album. For star identity, I used Florence's font as the font of the name of our actress. To make a whole album related together, I used the same font for 'Cosmic Love' in this bar and on front cover.

Final Product

At the begging, I was going to use 'Mirror Effect'. After I tried, it was not as what I imagined and 3 of 4  of the groups member do not like it, so we removed this idea.
